“What are you looking at?” said Ameera. Cardon, who hadn’t realized he was staring, cleared his throat. “Nothing,” he murmured. Although Cardon’s hand was on her waist and he was hovering over her, Ameera couldn’t bring herself to look up at him without blushing. Just standing that close to him made her light-headed; moreover, his scent was intoxicating. Cardon let out a deep sigh, which shifted Ameera’s attention to him. “Are you bored already?” she asked, although a part of her was scared he would say yes. “Just thinking about what I should do with you,” answered Cardon. “What do you mean?” said Ameera, seemingly alarmed. “Were you ever going to tell me that Xavier is your betrothed?” he blurted out.
